Mr. Gehrke (grrr - key) or Mr. G. as he is often called, comes from Ironwood, MI., Before teaching in Green Bay, Mr. Gehrke lived and went to school in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Northern Wisconsin.

Mr. Gehrke earned his Associate of Arts Degree from Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, MI. in 1996.  While at GCC, Mr. Gehrke majored in Elementary Education and minored in Special Education.  After receiving his Assoicate of Arts, Mr. Gehrke moved on to Northland College in Ashland, WI. where he received his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1998.  While at Northland College, Mr. Gehrke majored in Elementary Education and minored in Social Studies.  While attending college, Mr. G. was a campus life guard.

After completing college, Mr. Gehrke went on to substitute in six school districts throughout the western half of the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin.  In 2000, he moved to Green Bay to teach computers to grades pre-k - 8 at St. Matthew Catholic School in Green Bay.  During the summer of 2000, Mr. Gehrke taught summer school in Howard. During summer school he taught sessions in Puppeteering and Computers for Kids.

In 2001, Mr. Gehrke moved on to teaching 3rd grade at Green Bay Christian Schools.  While at GBCS, Mr. Gehrke was a featured chapel speaker.  Mr. Gehrke is the co-founder of Lighthouse Puppet Productions.

Lighthouse Puppet Productions was started in 1992 by Mr. Gehrke and a few friends.  All of the puppets that are in Lighthouse Puppet Productions are hand made by the Gehrke crew and are used for various shows.  Expect to see the puppets used in the classroom during learning and other times.  The students will be taught how to properly use them as well.

Mr. Gehrke also spent two years in Rockford, IL., teaching third grade.  While in Rockford, he served as puppet team leader for his home church and for the school.  It was a great two years but there will be a great deal more to add while working at the Turtle School.  It will be a wonderful ride for everyone!!

The ride continues for Mr. Gehrke.  While at the Turtle School, Mr. Gehrke taught one year of second grade and has officially been moved to the third grade.  It will be a lot of fun and I am sure I will enjoy having some of the same students again.

That is all for now.  Just so you know, Mr. Gehrke is nice and you have nothing to worry about. He is fun and enjoys teaching.  (You may need to watch out because he has a strange sense of humor sometimes).

In the winter of 2010, Mr. Gehrke will have his Masters in Technology in Education. Yippee!!
